Just in time for Halloween, Phoenixville Public Library
presents “Ghosts!: Songs, Tunes, and Spoken Word on the Supernatural” on
Monday, October 29, from 7:00 to 8:45 PM. This program for adults will be
presented by internationally touring storyteller and entertainer, Judy
Cook. According to legend, ghosts come back to accuse their murderer,
keep a promise, help the living, or because their loved ones’ excessive grief
keeps them from resting. These themes and others appear in the ancient
ballads, concertina tunes and poems -- ranging from chilling to funny –
presented by Judy Cook.
Judy hails from the Washington, DC area. She performs each
year throughout the United States and Great Britain. She is recognized for her
depth of understanding and storytelling ability in ballad form, for her
dedication to the music, and for her willingness to do her research. Judy's two
most recent CDs are Tenting Tonight: Songs of the Civil War and Lincoln’s
America!
This event is Sponsored by the Friends of the Phoenixville
